Zi Ling Tan, 50 and Weitang Zhao, 54, both of San Francisco were stopped by police at about 7 p.m., Thursday May 30 in Eastvale.

“During the investigation, officers were led by the subjects back to a residence in the 13800 block of Ellis Park Trail,” Sgt. Andrew Elia stated in a sheriff’s report.

During a search of the home officers discovered the home was in the initial stages of being modified into an illegal grow operation. In addition, electricity was being bypasses around the meter, creating a “serious fire hazard.”

The modifications to the recently rented home resulted in an estimated $15,000 worth of damage,” Sgt. Elia added.

Both men were booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for conspiracy, felony vandalism and tampering with utilities.

Anyone with further information regarding this ongoing investigation is urged to contact Officer Patrick Walls at 951-955-2600.
